that nails it Bill, it really does. It seemed like it took extra effort for Musk to get it out there, but no denying the intent when you do it twice. Can't take that one back.
As I watched a brief excerpt on the local ABC News (here in Australia) I was having exactly that thought - so what is Congress for - if executive power can implement all law as D Trump expresses it. How odd - whither democracy. China and Russia and Iran and N Korea and every other nation on earth will be aware - and either follow suit - or place the US under sanctions until it restores its putative democracy????
It's hard to say - when the hubris and exceptionalist belief tramples fairness and justice - it does take time for societies to reset - and the US has the power and reach not to be concerned with many others think - so there is no need to calibrate with concern and feelings of equality. I have a cousin (first cousin-once-removed) a radiation oncologist in Dallas - I posted something about the 1500 insurrectionists released by Trump from gaol (jail) "murderers amongst them. Quick as a flash the RW cousin has demanded clarification - name the murderer/s etc. I know that some WH police officer/s died - were injured/threatened - but whether from the crowd forcing entries or from a heart attack - maybe my words were too loose? Do you have any details to set me aright. I told him to tell me - since he knows so much - I may have been a little provocative (??!!) - but he's LDS - has no compassion for anyone...loves to express his opinions - but has no heart...Jim
I have not followed the details of Jan 6 insurrection, other than to criticize the Democrats in Congress and Biden AG for their failures to prosecute Trump as an insurrectionist and enforce the 14th amendment (3rd section).
But, suggest you send you cousin these facts, and ask him why he pals around with Fascists and terrorists:
"Militant, nationalistic, white supremacist violent extremism has increased in the United States. In fact, the number of far-right attacks continues to outpace all other types of terrorism and domestic violent extremism. Since 1990, far-right extremists have committed far more ideologically motivated homicides than far-left or radical Islamist extremists, including 227 events that took more than 520 lives.[1] In this same period, far-left extremists committed 42 ideologically motivated attacks that took 78 lives.[2] A recent threat assessment by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security concluded that domestic violent extremists are an acute threat and highlighted a probability that COVID-19 pandemic-related stressors, long-standing ideological grievances related to immigration, and narratives surrounding electoral fraud will continue to serve as a justification for violent actions.[3]"
He replied to my challenge speaking of the death of the woman shot by what he called a “nervous” Congress cop. Weren’t the Congress cops doing their job - to protect the Members, and the leaders - Pence, Pelosi et al? Actually semi-conceding my point, I thought?
Okay I’m not watching from within the US but I am sure one of the cops died a day or two later from a heart attack.
There is no law in the US now - is the feeling I get - Proud Boys and their ilk now have immunity to threaten and probably even to kill it would seem.
Musk has apparently caught the spirit of the moment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VfYjPzj1Xw&list=RDNS-VfYjPzj1Xw&start_radio=1
Let's see how the Right explains this one (twice) away.
reminds me of the scene from Dr. Strangelove, where the man just can't help himself.

and under Trump's "emergency" declarations, compliance with almost all laws are waived, as determined by Trump!
This is Trump's version of Hitler's Enabling Act - with the even worse abuse in that he did it via Executive power!!!!!!!
Be careful, Bill - or be outspoken and become St Bill of Wolfe - written about in histories if/when the US escapes from its Trumpian madness!
Sad to say, but that's a big "if".

Thanks for this, Bill.
I shall forward it to my cousin.
