Sad. And where are the 'green' groups? I suppose they don't want to rock the boat while a Dem is at the helm. Or maybe focusing on what pronouns are correct? That was part of my final experience with Sierra Club national.

Delaware Riverkeeper is trying to organize public opposition. But the battle was lost 3 YEARS ago when DEP proposed new rules to promote expansion of these caverns. At that time, instead of straight out opposing this insanity, they got co-opted and participated in. DEP "stakeholder" process to draft the new rules!

But my old group, NJ Sierra Club is far worse. The new Director, a DEI hire, and former low level DEP technocrat, is not even involved. A retired Sierra volunteer is trying to organize Sierra members on her own, with no support from the New Director, who does nothing but provide cover for DEP.

Finally, I have a long history at this Repauno plant, a former Dupont site. I got detained by police, interrogated, and later investigated at my house by FBI, Homeland Security and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office for taking pictures of that facility (next door to a daycare center!), see this 2008 post:

And if it happens - and then the inevitable explosion - hey - a new Delaware River port opens up - right?

The DEP ignored the experience of the folks who live nearby the Aliso Canyon gas leak, see:

Would I be correct in thinking the Aliso Canyon area sits astride earthquake fault lines? Near to?

That's pretty scary - I am glad I do NOT live in California... For me where I live in south-east Australia 500 metres from the Pacific and at around eight to 10 metres above sea - it will likely one day be a giant tsunami rushing up and over where I live...and there is occasional seismic activity here... in late 1989 an earthquake (only 5.6 Richter scale) damaged 50,000 homes - Newcastle built above a warren of 19th, early 20th-century coal mines...Or else bush fires (wild fires) and embers flying from nearby forests...
