Jim - when I was a NJ enviro activist, we planned for political campaign endorsements. They became an opportunity to extract commitments for specific policies - especially from a Governor who had the power to make things happen. We managed to get major good things done (Highlands Act, protecting an 800,000 acre region, was the last I can recall, and that was way back in 2002!
The current crop doesn't seem to do that anymore - or they ask for peanuts and get screwed in the fine print! That's what happened in the NJ Environmental Justice law.
