Expanding on his fraudulent, manufactured, fake "crime emergency", yesterday, Trump signed a radical and openly fascist Executive Order that would back his regime with military force, including the use of "volunteer" private militia's and vigilante's (read the Executive Order).
They buried it, but at least managed to report that: (NY Times story)
The order also directs a task force in Washington led by a White House adviser, Stephen Miller, to create an online portal for “Americans with law enforcement or other relevant backgrounds and experience” to apply to join federal agents in enforcing Mr. Trump’s “crime emergency” order in the District of Columbia.
The Order is nationwide in scope and will be used to invade, suppress, and harass many other cities, as Trump has threatened (not "mused" or "hedged" as NY Times downplays):
Mr. Trump has mused openly about expanding the deployments to other cities, particularly Democratic strongholds like New York, Chicago and Baltimore, saying crime there is out of control. On Monday, Mr. Trump said he could “solve” crime in Chicago in a week, though he hedged about whether he planned to move ahead with sending troops there.
Here's the text of the Order:
Each law enforcement agency that is a member of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force, as well as other relevant components of the Department of Justice as the Attorney General determines, shall further, subject to the availability of appropriations and applicable law, immediately create and begin training, manning, hiring, and equipping a specialized unit that is dedicated to ensuring public safety and order in the Nation’s capital that can be deployed whenever the circumstances necessitate, and that could be deployed, subject to applicable law, in other cities where public safety and order has been lost.
Repeat: the military units "could be deployed, subject to applicable law, in other cities where public safety and order has been lost."
The Trump military invasion and political repression unit (Orwellian named the "D.C. Safe And Beautiful Task Force") includes the military, several federal law enforcement agencies like ICE, Homeland Security, FBI, BATF, et al, and other red state national guards. So Trump has several legal options to deploy an incredible array of military, law enforcement, and private militia and vigilante power.
The "subject to applicable law" condition is a red flag warming. Trump repeatedly has threatened to declare a National Emergency, Marshall Law, and/or invoke the Insurrection Act.
Those actions would constitute "applicable law" that provides the legal authority to nationalize the Guard and deploy his fascist brownshirt military units anywhere in the US to crush protests or arrest, detain, or even kill Trump's opposition.
Stephen Miller is the worst of the fascists in Trump's regime - the fact that he is in charge of this operation is highly revealing.
In addition to involving the members of the DC invasion unit, the Trump Order makes the military deployment possible via direct deployment of US troops, or via nationalization of a State's National Guard:
ii) The Secretary of Defense shall immediately begin ensuring that each State’s Army National Guard and Air National Guard are resourced, trained, organized, and available to assist Federal, State, and local law enforcement in quelling civil disturbances and ensuring the public safety and order whenever the circumstances necessitate, as appropriate under law. In coordination with the respective adjutants general, the Secretary of Defense shall designate an appropriate number of each State’s trained National Guard members to be reasonably available for rapid mobilization for such purposes. In addition, the Secretary of Defense shall ensure the availability of a standing National Guard quick reaction force that shall be resourced, trained, and available for rapid nationwide deployment.
So, this entire trump fascist program has been nationalized and institutionalized in the Department of Defense and 50 State National Guard units.
There is even a fascist housing component to conduct ethnic cleansing of poor, black and minority neighborhoods:
(e) The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) shall investigate any non-compliance with the crime-prevention and safety requirements of HUD agreements by the District of Columbia Housing Authority or any landlord in the District of Columbia. These investigations shall include consideration of the provisions of such agreements that require housing providers to maintain safe, decent, and sanitary conditions or to restrict tenants who engage in criminal activity that threatens health, safety, and the right to peaceful enjoyment for other tenants, including engaging in drug distribution, violent criminal activity, and domestic violence. The Secretary of HUD shall refer any findings of non-compliance to the Attorney General, Federal law enforcement authorities, the District of Columbia Housing Authority Police Department, and the Metropolitan Police Department, as appropriate.
As it now stands, that is limited in scope to Washington DC - but it could obviously and soon will be nationwide is scope as well.
